In December 2011, I lost my favorite electronic companion to heat exhaustion. Logic board, I expect, starts up, blank screen - gone, gone, gone... First of the new MacBooks, Aug, 2006 - MacBook 1.83 - 512x2 memory, wo/SuperDrive. AppleCare replaced: two sets of charger/batteries; cases and a logic board. I went through a few HD's, the last & now current is a SATA 250GB (7200RPM) from Newegg.
The MacBook 2.4 looks good, clean - screen and body, a nice improvement - Mac OSX 10.6.8.
It seems the memory was bad in the 2.4. It worked fine until I removed it and reinstalled. Three beeps and no start up. Memory does get old, and heats up - not a real problem. OWC is a trusted source. I replaced the memory with 1GBx2 OWC memory that was in my old MacBook 1.83. I sent OWC a note, just to report it - as I plan to buy the (reasonable max of 4GB) from OWC, soon.
Apple MacBook White 2.4GHz Core 2 Duo 2GB Mem-160GB HD-SprDrive-Aiport Wireless $439.99 at OWC http://eshop.macsales.com/shop/bargains/ - $5 off for using Amazon to process the order which included free shipping - total being $434.99.
